It is already the second day of school. I have since stopped unpacking as I have decided to leave it until the weekend. I have been spending lots of money buying stuff for my room and building up my food supply. I have been settling in well so far. The only complain I have would be that the weather is terribly cold. I seriously miss the Singapore weather. Today, I cooked porridge for dinner, the first time I have started to really cook since I arrived.

Yesterday, Steph and I went to Gary’s friend flat for dinner. There were about 20 people and the majority was from Hong Kong. It has been nice to meet new people. We had green, red and yellow pepper with minced beef, scrambled egg with prawns, potato curry, beef, bean and sausage soup, pizza and garlic. The food was not too bad. On the point about meeting new people, my course had an additional six people from Singapore and Malaysia. Two of them studied at polytechnics in Singapore, while the rest were from Taylor College. It is part of their twinning programme. Strictly speaking, there were actually five Malaysians, of which one of them is a Singapore PR. Till date, I have met four of them. One of the Malaysians is in my tutor group, so I would definitely meet him by next week. This is because we would be having a personal tutorial with our personal tutor.

My flight from Singapore to London was about 12hr 30min, shorter than expected. Hence the plane touched down at 5.32am. The temperature was nine degrees at that point of time. Upon hearing it, I wished that I was in Singapore. Nonetheless, I have to bear with the cool climate. After which, I took a coach at 7am and arrived at about 10am in Birmingham. Subsequently, I texted Steph regarding the cab fare from the coach station to our house. She replied that it would not cost more than 10 pounds. I asked the cab driver the price and he said that it would cost 7/8 pounds. However, he would go by the meter. Guess what, the cab fare amounted to 10.40 pounds. If I have known this, I would have called for a cab and they might quote me a standard fare. The scary thing was that the journey was approximately 10 minutes long. The meter kept jumping by 20 pence for every 30 s (around there). That is why when I take a cab in Singapore (rarely though), I felt that it was so cheap (in comparison to UK of course). I spent quite some time unpacking. I had an early sleep that night (most probably due to jet lag).

By the way, thanks a lot for those who turned up to send me off!! Really appreciate it =D

Ok, I would upload the photos some time later, not very soon though..till then =)
