Email from the Vice-Chancellor


Dear Student

Over the past 24 hours the University, its staff and students, have enjoyed unparalleled national and international coverage.

Although I am in India at present, the coverage of the event has reached me in Delhi. At a meeting with the Vice President of India, I felt confident in making the claim that Birmingham is currently the UK's most famous University. Colleagues in Birmingham have kept me fully informed of activities both in front of the cameras and behind the scenes.

Significant amongst the international coverage was the amount of footage that included students of the University. I feel proud that the views of our student body featured amongst the interviews with our academic staff.

I appreciate that many students will have had to deal with a variety of inconveniences and disruptions to their daily lives over the past week in order to accommodate the final 'Leaders Debate' last night, and the frenzy of media activity which surrounded it.

Can I take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and co-operation over this period and hope that you, as I have done overseas, have taken a real pride in the way in which our University was able to rise to the challenge of an event of this scale and significance.

When asked who won the debate last night, I would have to say, the University of Birmingham,

I have finally made a trip to the gym after ages!! :)

On my way back home, I observed that people were hanging the flag of England everywhere, so I suspected that today might be some sort of a special day. Indeed I was right. Today is actually St. George's Day (which is otherwise also known to be England's national day). Ahh...so now I see..

I saw an ice-skating choreography by 2010 ice-skating world champion, Kim Yu-Na, for Fiesta on Ice. It is to the tune of 'Run Devil Run' by SNSD. SO COOL!!



Kim Yu-Na is apparently a talented singer as well (as shown in the video posted below).

I read a nonsensical reason given by an accused suspected of committing burglary, so I decided to post it here:

Suspect: 'playing hide-and-seek'

NORTH EAST (Maryland) - A BURGLARY suspect came up with a creative explanation after he was found dangling from the ventilation system of a Maryland convenience store. He told police he was playing hide-and-seek.

Cecil County sheriff's deputies said the owner of a BP convenience store in North East was opening up Wednesday morning when he spotted a pair of feet dangling from a duct. Deputies responded and freed a 20-year-old man.

Deputies said the man removed a ventilation cover and crawled through the vent before getting stuck and setting off a fire extinguisher that sprayed powder all over the store.

The man told deputies he was playing hide-and-seek on the roof with other adults and decided to hide in the ventilation system.

He said the other players couldn't figure out where he was and stopped looking for him. -- AP

Found something interesting!!

Taken from wikipedia:

Black Day (April 14) is a South Korean informal tradition for single people to get together and eat jajangmyeon (noodles with black bean sauce), sometimes a white sauce is mixed for those who did not celebrate White Day.

The idea is that those who did not give or receive gifts on Valentine's Day (February 14) or White Day (March 14) can get together and eat jajangmyeon (자장면), white Korean noodles with black bean sauce (hence the name), to celebrate their singledom.

Steph and I went to XY's house today. Her mum was so hospitable!! She gave us a bowl of soup each which contains like at least 20 dumplings! She also cooked cucumber and braised peanuts! The dumplings are wanton are really good! She said that we should go over more often and next time, she will cook fish, prawns, etc. Oh..and during CNY, we were supposed to go over and she prepared loads of stuff..but we did not go over in the end..I felt so bad about it. In any case, her house is definitely nicer than mine. I really do not mind going over more often. =)

I am literally living in bliss everyday!! Watching, chatting, playing, eating and sleeping =D

Yesterday, I think I spent at least 2 hours before the mirror. Of course not to admire myself! It was my first attempt at cutting my fringe. I was so afraid that I will end up looking toot. Luckily it was not too bad. At least I was satisfied with my hair-cutting skills..heehee..Currently, the dramas that I am following are as followed:

Synopsis
